NISSAN MICRA 2011 racing challenge game

Hi, guys.
I am launching a new game project which is totally open for anybody to join in if they have the relevant Blender experience and talent.

I live in South Africa in a small town called Bronkhorstspruit.
I work at the local Nissan dealership as the parts manager and now got a new project to help with the launch of the new 2011 Nissan Micra in my home town.

Now, I want to create a “Blender” game using only the new Nissan Micra 2011 model.
This game will be based in South Africa(Mainly racetracks like Kyalami, Zwartkops etc)

The population of Bronkhorstspruit, South Africa is 27343 according to the GeoNames geographical database.

Latitude, Longitude, and Elevation

Bronkhorstspruit, South Africa is located at -25.8083 [latitude in decimal degrees], 28.7406 [longitude in decimal degrees] at an elevation/altitude of meters. The average elevation of Bronkhorstspruit, South Africa is 1364 meters.

Timezone

The time zone id for Bronkhorstspruit is Africa/Johannesburg.

Alternative Names
Alternative names for Bronkhorstspruit, South Africa include: Bronkhorstspruit,Erasmus

The data for this record was last updated 2010-08-10.

The game-play should at least reach the same quality of mini37 which is hosted at mini37.com or even the old Blender game called Club Silo which is the original of the intended game now called Mini37.
But, instead of using the mini we MUST only use the Nissan Micra 2011 model.

So, what is needed are GOOD models low and high poly of this new Micra, buildings, and tracks, GOOD textures, python programming, and a GOOD looking menu system and if at all possible this game must also be played over the internet or even LAN.

So I will appreciate ALL the help I can get on this one.

The reward for being part of this project is:

  1. YOUR name will be in the credits,
  2. You will have exclusive advertisement through our dealer network for future projects,
  3. Still thinking !

At this stage this project is only a way to get our foot in the door for In-Game advertising in South Africa.
So, if you decide to join this project at this stage it will ONLY be to gain experience and not as a paid job.
We will not be charging for this game, so there is NO money to be made.

In future projects depending on the quality of this game as a DEMO, funding will be readily available !

PLEASE DO NOT EVEN TRY TO OVER COMMIT, BECAUSE I WILL BE PUSHING YOUR BUTTON ALL THE TIME FOR DEADLINE TO BE MET WHICH IS IN A MONTH AND A HALF’s TIME AS FROM TODAY 30/03/2011 ! :eyebrowlift2:

Please also PM me to discuss ideas and if you really are willing and able to help !
Contact me: n e b l e n d e r AT g m a i l DOT c o m !

PLEASE, WE ARE NOT GOING TO COPY CLUB SILO OR MINI37 !

THIS GAME SHOULD BE UNIQUE, BUT WE CAN USE THE OTHERS AS IDEAS.

The beginning of stage 1 of my first Micra.

Looks good, and planned out. Good luck, I’m following you

Hi, micah702. I see you make BGE tut’s. Can you explain to me how to code python for this car racing game ?
I’m a total noob at coding, who knows only how to use python as a calculator.

Please, can you make one white nissan micra, so it is actually a copy of my own car.
(in real life it is 1999 model, but still.)

Just a few suggestions
Check this link for some tutorials.Scroll down for vehicle series.I see you use blender 2.5 so you can’t use the “vehicle wrapper” which would’ve been a ready solution for the car steering python.
http://www.tutorialsforblender3d.com/Game_Engine/Tutorials_index.html
Things you could also do:
Take high resolution pictures of a real car at your work with good lighting, with as less reflections as possible.Side view, front, back ,top if possible.Stand at equal distance and use equal height if possible.Closer view of little details (handles, emblems and such).Considering the short deadline don’t moddel the interior.Just make the windows dark.
Use a map or go around your town to decide where your track should be.Take high res pictures of the buildings along that track.Make separate picture for as much buildings is reasonable and group pictures of buildings that are same height.Don’t forget any landmarks that could be characteristic.Tall buildings, towers and such.Take pictures of signs, trees ,any well known sculpures, billbords and such.Generally everything you want in the game.
Bake normals and ao from the high poly model to lower poly model.Maybe about 500-700 faces or less would be enough to get all the outlines(extremely low poly models of cars can consist of about 150 faces and still be easily recognizable and good looking with nice textures)
Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the advise ! I appreciate the input a whole lot. Will mobile phone photos 3.2 Mega pixels of 2048px x1536px work ?

Can always try ! LOL

We do not yet have the NEW Micra in SA yet, but can work from images off the net.
And yes, I know that site very well. Took a look at it a couple of times, but still do not fully understand BGE PYTHON coding as yet.

Can always try ! LOL

Hello, no, unfortunately, I cannot make Python tutorials  I specified in my tutorial request thread that Python is out of my personal limits. However; there are many good tuts out there. If there is any other tutorial you need, I should be able to, for now my microphone is “out of order”, and after that I have a queue of about 3 tutorials I need to make. Thanks for the interest! Bye

I bought a G-Pen from Genius today for my texture work etc. Must say it makes life much easier.

Just a small update.

Hi, I saw your YouTube page.
I see you can help with level design !
I have about 6 tracks almost completed for this game, but there’s still a lot to be done.
I want this game to go from track to track in stages.
Can you make me a tutorial on that ?
You can use text integrated in you video or just a simple text tut, I’ll appreciate it a whole lot.

Just another smaal update to what I’m up-to thus far.

nice model, but it seems way too high poly for the game engine.

Yes, I know it’s WAY TOO high poly at the moment, but I will reduce the poly count once the introduction video has been produced.
I’m not very good at modelling thus far, but trying my best.
Would appreciate your honest input/advise on this.
Here is another pic of how far I am with this car:
