i have several actions that i reference in the NLA editor.
I don’t understand how they are linked, i’d like to edit actions based on the reference position of the armatures and begin at frame 1.
But what i experience in the Action editor is that frame 1 already shows the position that the armatures form in frame 1.
Also, when (in the NLA editor) i move an action that i created to another frame and i open that action again in the action editor, it does not begin at frame 1 any more.
Can somebody give me some hints on how to handle the actions and the NLA best?
i don’t know if the question is clear from what i wrote, basicaly what i’d like to do is:
I’d like to edit actions in the action editor based on the reference position of the armatures, so they are not in a motion, just in their standard position.
In the NLA editor i’d like to reference the actions and move them to the frame where they should start.
But this is not what i experience, the action aditor seems to depend on the NLA editor, if there are some actions moved in the NLA editor, they are also moved in the action editor.
Also, the armatures positions are not in reference position in frame 1 because there is an action at that frame in the NLA editor.
the NLA editor has a mode, called Action mode, which allows you to edit actions. Next to the name of the active NLA strip, there is a symbol that looks like the NLA icon, click on it and it will change to the action icon. Sounds like that’s what might be happening, you need to be in action mode.
Hi, glad I found this post! Newbie here on this forum and to Blender as well. I have been working my way thru the Blender Summer of Documentation/Introduction to Character Animation tutorial @
I’m up to animation part, have made in the action editor 2 actions, a ‘wave’ (of the hand) and a ‘walkcycle’. I have moved both animations into the NLA editor, and have edited their lengths and blendin and blendout properties of the actions with each other.
Now I would like to add more actions to my character, I’ve tried adding new actions in the action editor where I created the first actions at, and the character keeps returning to his walkcycle poses. I consulted the Blender Wiki Manual and it mentioned adding new actions from the NLA window, when I do that and switch to the Action editor, what ever frame I move to, the character is still in the ‘walkcycle’.
How do I add new actions to this character? I’ve learned alot in a short time with blender, and this is the first “brickwall” I’ve ran into. Any help would be greatly apperciated!!
