hi blender heads
i was a problemo widht audio playback in sequencer editor ubuntu feisty
i found this thread :

and my solution is was end of the thread
-install width synaptic
libsdl1.2debian
libsdl1.2debian-all
-start nautilus width sudo
sudo nautilus
-edit the text file
/etc/environment
-and paste this line
SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa
restart computer
its worked for me
