I’ve been using blender for a while now but I haven’t opened it in around a month. I was trying to connect blender to Sims 4 Studio but I couldn’t find the .exe or application file/shortcut for blender (I would always use the windows search bar to open it so I don’t have any desktop shortcuts either) so I looked online to find where to look for the file but no matter where I look there’s no blender foundation folder on the laptop. I have a blender folder in my documents but it only has .blend/.blend1 files and any reference images I was using - no app. I searched nearly all my files (with hidden files shown) and countless folders and have found nothing. The closest thing I have is the installer and that file in my documents. The installer is for version 4.2 and I’ve considered installing a newer version of the installer and reinstalling blender but that’s more of a last resort.
In other news whenever I try to open blender it crashes after a few seconds (I’ve opened from both windows search menu and .blend files) so I can’t do anything inside there to try and fix this. I made an account here to hopefully get an answer since other topics with this same problem aren’t helping (bonus points if you can tell me why blender is crashing whenever I open it).
I was using the latest blender version at the time (4.3 I believe, I believe it’s LTS) , and I used the installer to download. If it’s relevant I believe I got the installer from Microsoft Store since it was easier but that was ~5/6 months ago so I may be wrong. Any answers that don’t involve backing up all my files then reinstalling are very much appreciated, but if that’s the only way then I’ll try.
