This solution has helped myself and another Blender user with GeForce Series GPUs, so hopefully it’ll help you, too. Try removing your old drivers, and using the 71.84 NVIDIA drivers from here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html . Hope that works.
DwarvenFury
turn off antialiasing in your driver’s advanced setttings
and using the 71.84 NVIDIA drivers
I use the newest 81.98 nvidia drivers with no problems. That problem must be an AMD thing.
thanx guys…but grimey if u r using the latest drivers…what is the mother board and os u use. i also get a error message saying 'the transparency is disabled 'cos a program is using directx and 3d application '. what else could be the problem?
chela69
did you try turning off antialiasing?
can you post a screenshot?
thanx once again…i will definitely post a screen shot once i get home. blender works fine at work on a p-4 with 815gv mother board. how do you get a screen shot???
chela69
Well this is the simplest way I get a screenshot. When you have the desired window / screen displayed - press the ‘Print Screen’ Button. Usually it is above the ‘insert’ ’ home’ ‘PageUp’ button row.
Once you press that button, open paint. Then press ‘Ctrl + V’ of from the menu Edit->Paste. And viola there you’ll see the screenshot. Just save the image (I prefer jpeg for size and decent quality). And thats it you saved your screenshot.
Now you can use that image in the forums to show ur problem.
thanx abhinav…
r u indian? looks by the name. but can u help me with the above problems mentioned in my first post. i am losing sleep.

Hey Chela69, regarding your original problem, well I have seen a few threads all noting this error and most of the guys have had problems with their nVidia graphics card.
As DarwinFury suggested, reloading an older version of the drivers seemed to work for a few (search the forum - you’ll see). However, for some loading the latest drivers seemed to solve the problem.
I dont see this being an AMD problem, because a processor has little or nothing to do with displaying graphics. I have never encountered such a problem, so I cannot say much. But I would recommend doing a thorough search of this forum.
P.S. Actually yes, I am Indian, but havent been to India in 3 years. Ran away to study in Canada but am on a work-term in Israel right now!
I have 2 different sytems running blender. Both use nividia 5950 ultra graphics card. Both motherboards are P4 from Abit, one is BD-7II and the other is IC7-MAX3. Both use WinXP Pro

What about SSE2-3 and doesn’t the cpu send the instructions to the gpu? I had several AMD’s and all were quirky on windows.
how is it an amd problem and grimey what os r u using btw and can u post any setting u have set if u r os is win xp.
chela69
I don’t know it’s an AMD problem but I have had so many incompatibility problems with AMD, I won’t use them. They’re just quirky…weird things happen!
Everything is default settings except I have auto-overclocking. If you’ve overclocked, turn it off. The anti-aliasing, unless you changed it, should be application controlled. You can try disabling that as Zero talked about. m You might try re-installing the driver, be sure anti-virus tools are disabled (that’s maybe your problem). There are some freeware tools to help you remove old drivers that may be causing problems.
btw…how do u turn of antialiaing in the nvidia panel …i tried looking a lot but no luck :o
and gurus what other measures do u suggest i take?
chela69
Chela,
You should really look at the video driver. This is always the first place to look for these kinds of problems. I think this is probably the problem since its a new system. The openGL drivers are not installed correctly or partially installed.
Go to www.guru3d.com get the “nefarious file remover” or “detonator destroyer” software to get rid of your detonator drivers. Then go to nvidia.com and get the latest driver. At guru3d there is also a program called “nvtweak” that will give you access to gpu settings. If this doesn’t work, then try the older driver mentioned in the post above. Remember, disable your antivirus if you run one.
thanx grimey,
i dont know where i would b without u…i tried a lot but its still the same. however i will try to remove the antivirus which is avg btw…and also getting the nefarious files removed. will carry out all u r suggestions. but do u think there should b a special forum just to cater to these kind of problems? and i also tried turning of antialiasing but no result. let c .
