Hi guys, my first forum post EVER so go easy, or don’t, i can take it!
Have been using Photoshop for years now with my photography so am quite versed in the program. Recently have been learning how to use Blender so i can incorporate cg elements in my artwork. It seems though that whenever i export an obj. to Photoshop so i can use the 3d tools to turn/flip/rotate my model into position, the obj. always imports in it’s basic render ie without colour or material. The question is this: Am i supposed to composite the two in Blender and if so what is the point in the 3d tools in PS or is there something i’m not doing before i export to PS?
greetings, did you unwrap and bake the texturs to an image or is it useing blender matts?
i actualy lol at this thread thinking .obj and photoshop are you jokeing, but i did hear somthing about new 3d tools, i just thought i was for faking 3d?
I’m using blender materials. Maybe photoshop is not meant to be used in the way i’m thinking. I’m jst wondering how to place a 3d model tht’s been rendered in Blender into a photography scene. There’s an artist i’ve seen, Uli Staiger who mixes both and i can’t get my head round it lol.
Render the final textured model created in Blender with alpha data using a format that preserves transparency (e.g. png) and then import the image file into photoshop for further processing. I’m not sure what exactly you’re up to but ideally you would want to do the exact opposite, i.e. import the image into Blender for integrating your 3d model into a background/scene/whatever. It’s called compositing and there are hundreds of tutorials/demos out there. In fact, I was just watching this which seemed interesting:
I think you’re right! I should be doing it the opposite way. By bringing my image into Blender and compositing (once i’ve learnt how to) the model and scene together i should get what i’m trying to achieve. I jst assumed tht Photoshop’s new 3d tools would do the job in there but it seems them tools are for other less complex 3d work.
