No motion blur on HDRI

Hello, i have a scene where I have an observatory in the foreground and an HDRI of the night sky in the background. I have keyframed the HDRI to rotate immensely fast and enabled motion blur in the cycles render engine with the hope to get a long exposure look of the sky, with the foreground unblurred .
It is an animation of 1000 frames.

The thing is that the HDRI does not “trail” at all. Is there something to enable to make it do so? Is it only objects or when the camera moves it enablers the blur?
I am fairly keen in blender but this is strange i think.

Hope it makes sense and that someone has an answer

Welcome!

Sadly, this is a current limitation of Blender, there is no motion blur when moving texture coordinates. You could go around this by putting the HDRI on an actual mesh sphere and rotating it.
