No option to import FBX files

I need to import an FBX file, but for some reason there is no option for importing FBX files in File>Import. Any ideas?

I updated from Blender 3.2.0 to 3.2.2, but it was the same in both versions, tried a new file and some old files, and it’s the same thing.

Have you activated the FBX import in your preferences?
Also, if the FBX is an older version, the default FBX importer can’t handle it.

No I assume not, I thought it was there by default to be honest, how do I do that?

No worries, because I tend ot inherit my settings from prior versions, chances are, at some point in the past, I activated it and now don’t think about it.
I would say though, if you can afford it obviously, that addon is very useful for older versions of FBX. I have a fair bit of older Lightwave work and Blender can’t read the FBX version, the addon does it seamlessly.
