No sound since ugrade to Ubuntu7.10 and Blender2.45

Hey Guys

I upgraded my ubuntu to 7.10 and the sound stopped working
I had the same issue when I 1st switch to Linux 5 or 6 months ago

This was fixed by compiling a fresh build using Scons and launching blender a script that included

export SDL_AUDIODRIVER=alsa

I have tried a fresh build and it hasn’t solved the problem
this is my terminal output


Compiled with Python version 2.5.1.
Checking for installed Python... got it!

the “Ignoring Xlib error: error code 171 request code 149” was there before and it worked fine but every time I try to play the audio (scrub or press play) the “0.414924 – 1.111111” error appears.

does anybody know what that means

does sound work for the rest of your system? also, what sound chip are you using? try an update through synaptic?

yep the sound works with everything else

if I update through synaptic it is blender 2.44

it is the same problem I had when I 1st switched to linux but they way I solved it last time isn’t working
i’ll keep looking

It’s fixed

I rebuilt blender and changed the userconfig.py file

all good!!

I can blend again
