No surface editor ... I think I may be missing files ...

I am running windows xp pro … 32 bit … i have Blender 2.68a and 2.69 … currently using 2.69 …

I started following blender boot camp tutorials so I could learn to use blender. When I got to the part about making the coffee pot glass, I discovered that I do not have the same menu options that the tutor had. I assumed I didnt install blender properly so I installed v 2.69. Still had the same problem, no ability to change the surface of materials. I checked other tutorials … they all had the same menus in node editor and surface menu … I did not have those menus.

Here are a couple screen shots …

In this first one you can see the surface menu is blue … it wont let me modify anything in it …

This is the node editor … the menu here is different also … it wont let me load or use any surface stuff … no glass, no light emitters, nothing …

I think I might be missing those files in the 32 bit blender … any help here?

He’s using Cycles. At the top switch your render engine from “Blender Render” to “Cycles”. Welcome to Cycles.
