No Texture with Directx Exporter (material 1 - No effect instance specified)

I’m trying to use blender for creating game models. I’ve gotten texures to export successfully before but I’ve been out of practice for a few months and now I suddenly can’t get a uv texture to show up once exported. I’ve read as much as I could of others problems, but where there’s is solved, mine still is not. After I could not get textures to work with my bigger models, I tried getting it to work with just a cube. The texture shows up in blender, but when I load an exported .x file, it shows the error:
‘’ material 1 - No effect instance specified.
Reverting to the default effect.
SAS: Loading effect ‘Resource:#103
The texture file is in the same folder as my .x file. What am I doing wrong?
