Nodes- fade an edge to alpha- eliminate hardedge- Solution :-)

simply explained- i would like to take 2 videos…and put them side to side, but blend the 2 vidoes in the middle instead of having a hard edge.

Like a special effect of the same person swinging on a set of swings… side by side.

so i use 2 objects.planes…and i even have 1 face of the plane which will accept the movie…and shove that plane to the left for the left swing…and another plane object, with a face shoved to the right, (overlaps alittle with the front plane (left swing))

now with nodes, is there a way to gradually blend or fade the left object into the right object instead of having such a hard edge where the front face overlaps the other oject and face?

I can’t use a static 2nd texture as an alpha mask because i may need to move the vertex’s for the faces during the movie and i want the ‘blend’ to happen at the edge of the faces.

I hope someone can help.
Thank you

I would break this into two steps:

  1. Mask the footage you want to cut out by using a green mask (a standard green, shadeless plane with the desired gradient) and mask out the first set of footage with that green overlay.

  2. Combine footage B, with footage A now green-masked, and use green-screen techniques to combine the two.

I’m very excited to share the solution. Thank you KrisAstor for pointing me to green screen (even though i used a red color)

this set up will give you a gradual fade between the front image (or movie) (in scene.001) and the back image (or movie)
