Nodevember 003+004: 4-sided - tetrapod beach armor


Trying to think about fun 4-sided things, I though of these cool concrete beach reinforcing blocks:

It seemed like a fun challenge for procedural modeling, and it was!

I kept playing with the concept and managed to get a whole scene together using only geo nodes, with procedural shaders as well:

and things I would do next time:

  • cleaner topology on the tetrapod assembly
  • some better stacking logic to reduce collisions
  • wave interactions with the tetrapods in the ocean shader

Overall though, it was a lot of fun and Iā€™m pretty proud of how it turned out.
