Nope, and I’m endlessly sad that they released the v2 not long after I bought mine
That happens to me all the damn time. You eventually grow numb to it.
I’m kind of thinking that myself because both Huion and XP 24 inch tablets (latest) are using older tech than the 19s, for some reason? So I’m sort of wary that if I buy the 24 a newer version will be released within the next year.
The order they (xp pen) release their new products is sometimes a bit strange, but normally newer products dont use older tech just maybe if they belong to a cheaper segment. Its just not that when they eg have a newer pen, that all tablets that belong to a series get upgraded together.
The problem with both brands is that the pens are not universal, and from the research I’ve done, both brands 24s are using the last gen pen tech.
No if you’re talking of Artist Pro 24 Gen2 (both the 4k version and the regular one), that uses the x3 pro with 16k pressuresensitivity It also comes with 60 degree tilt, just barrel rotation is no option afaik. Beside that I am pretty sure its based on EMR, what means it should be licensed Wacom tech then.
EMR technology was introduced to drawing tablets by Wacom. And they held all the core key patents to EMR. Those core patents have expired and now other manufacturers can build increasingly sophisticated EMR designs which are begin to rival Wacom products.
Oh I missed that it expired. Thanks for the note.
Weird that the pens have different designs then. The 19 has a scroll wheel on it that the 24 does not?
Also, you’re right. I was getting mixed up with the Huion. The 19 has the gen 4 pen and the 24 has the gen 3.
Very limited tools in the desktop beta, but wow! I’m really liking it so far. ![]()
I have the clay brush tweaked to pretty much as good as Zbrush, and the move brush, imo, in Nomad is a lot better than Zbrush move brush.
Dyntopo is great as well. I’ve never been a fan of Sculptris Pro in Zbrush, but so far the dynamic topo sculpting algorithm in Nomad is a LOT nicer to use than Zbrush Sculptris.
Very excited to see this progress. ![]()
Good to hear… ![]()
I got a question tho… this is something I actually asked in the nomad’s forum years ago, but didn’t get any answer…
Do you know if it’s possible to start a brush stroke from an empty space? Kind of how blender and other apps work…
When I tried, nomad worked like zbrush, you know (brush strokes only on top of the mesh… On empty space orbits the view) I never liked this behaviour in zbrush lol…
So yeah, maybe there’s a hidden setting somewhere… ![]()
Hehe! It’s funny you should mention that. If I could choose one single thing in the entire world to change about Zbrush, it would be this. I fking HATE that behaviour. I’ve actually been back and forth with Paul Gaboury pleading my case on this and he finally agreed to add it to the to-do list for future releases.
The good news is that, yes, you can disable it in Nomad. You still can’t begin a stroke on an empty part of the screen like in Blender - it isn’t recognised - but it doesn’t do that ridiculous rotation if you are 1 pixel outside the mesh.
It’s something worth asking for on the regular beta Discord.
Haha, yeah man, that thing is terrible…
Oh that’s great… I hope it lands soon… it’s really a big deal…
Nice. Good news indeed…
Too bad it doesn’t recognise the stroke, but it’s already much better for sure… ![]()
I guess I will, even though it might sound like a feature request and not beta related… ![]()
I will also post a feature request on the forum at some point…
We really need this…
Thx mate…
LOL, there’s only one TheRedWaxPolice
… But yeah, that’s me…
I made that matcap… It’s the same one that ships with blender too… ![]()
I love it around here. I’ve met so many famous people!
Look at this guy contributing to proprietary projects. Nice !
No way! Really? You are the one responsible for Red Wax Matcap?
You are hereby banished forthwith from the kingdom… ![]()
Yep. Way better. ![]()
There’s no feature request entry on the Nomad Discord, it seems. People seem to just leave ideas on the beta test entry.
I knew it. I’m proud of you, my son. ![]()
Totally agreed. Nomad’s dynamic topology is the best I’ve seen, although 3D-Coat is a competent contender in that area.
Me too. I hope Stéphane gets his Wacom tablet soon, so those quirks can be resolved soon.

I didn’t really try the 3DC one, but Sculptris Pro has always been plagued with issues in Zbrush. Especially the weird rendering artifacts that remain until you rotate the view (same artifacts as live boolean and dynamic subdiv) I suppose Sculptris tech is really old now too, and it shows. I really like the way Nomad dyntopo is so economical, intelligent, and non-disruptive to existing forms.
He just postedthat the one he wants is out of stock. Still, I have pressure working fine with wintab disabled. There’s just a small quirk where you have to right click the mouse in the viewport as the pen stops working if you use the mouse on UI elements. Not a huge deal though, and I’m sure he’ll fix all this stuff as soon as he gets his tablet. I suppose that’s the major part of the desktop version, making sure all different OS/PC specs/pen tablets are supported. ![]()
