Non additive lighting ?

I’m struggling with this simple problem, I would like to replicate the behaviour represented in this picture

I just can’t find a way to do this in blender, It’s a problem about the diffuse shading and the lights indeed, but I can’t find the right knobs that can help me with this.

Any ideas ?

still trying, still can’t find something useful in the settings …

Have you tried just increasing the brightness so things clip out? Because that’s basically the only reason you’d get this result in the real world. (of course, if you are going for something other than an actual spot of light, that may not be too helpful…)

You won’t find something in the settings. Use one light and a texture or mask.

can you describe how to correctly input a “light mask”, they are bitmaps or it’s possible to do something scalable like a vector shape ?

yes, but my point is that sometimes it’s a lot quicker to add another light to “light” another area than find the right masking or edge, the problem lies in the intersection where the 2 or more lights generate a more harsh result.
