Hi,
In earlier blender versions, I can make a copy of a mesh that is linked to the original mesh - or is a new copy. (using shift-d or alt-d)
But in Blender 2.28a, I can’t make non-linked copies - they are always linked… I can get around this though, by opening it up in Blender 2.27 (which would probably wreck my materials) or appending objects from previously saved versions. Or using alt-d/shift-d in edit mode then separating the vertices to form another mesh…
So do other people have this problem? Is there a simpler way of copying meshes than the ideas I just mentioned? BTW, I’m using Windows XP.
Just downloading 2.28a so I don’t know if it is specific to this version.
Did you try to check or uncheck the Mesh button in the Info (user preferences) window under the Edit methods buttons. ?
In 2.28 you get linked copies with Shift+D if the Mesh button is unchecked and non-linked copies if it is checked.
Download finished: Same in 2.28a. Should be the setting of the Mesh button.
just go to pref window and in “Edit Methods” and check Duplicat with mesh
Mesh , Curves , Metaball , Text , Lights ets. and save pref with ctrl + U and u get solution.
Thanks niket and tordat
I had accidently rewritten over my old user defaults blend file and had to create my own… so now it is more like the original…
