I have been doing (actually attempting) some of the tuts and have a bit of trouble when rendering planes with hills. One of the hills is cut off at the top and only half of the other hill renders. When I press NUM 0, I can see what the render will show me, there is a solid rectangular line with two dotted lines inside it. Apparently whatever is inside the solid line will render. I figured out I can select the solid line and move it but am wondering if I can make it bigger since it is not large enough to cover the entire area…err everything I’ve made. Haha, sorry for the technical jargon.
Actually everything inside the outer dotted line is rendered. Select your Camera (the solid rectangle you mention in numpad-0) and goto F9 buttons. Clipping Start and End values will determine what get’s ‘seen’ by the camera at rendertime; if it’s outside the clipping range it won’t be rendered. The Lens value is like an SLR camera’s focal length; so you can ‘make it bigger’ by changing (let’s say) from 35 to 25. Higher values will be like telephoto. You can also goto Top View (numpad-7) and G your camera further from the object (but your object gets smaller the further you move the camera). You can also move the camera to ‘look’ from any point of the 3D Viewport (pan with MMB) by hitting Ctrl-Alt-Numpad-0.
