Noob: Car WIP

Hi,

I am modelling a honda based on this blueprint found on another tutorial site… http://squiggle.goldeye.info/tutorials_car/02blueprints.gif

The tutorial only gave a general idea on how to mesh model the car staring from a plane, and so I went ahead and tried it on my own…

The car body is done now, but as a noob I am not sure if i am doing it right… and I wonder if the poly count of my car is considered high or low?..

C & C are welcomed, I am sorry I kept posting tutorial stuffs… still trying to learn…

The link for the blueprint is a dead-end. You are being redirected to http://www.100webspace.com/

Looks good so far, and the mesh looks okay too. The polycount is fairly low, but the polycount doesn’t matter if it isn’t a lowpoly model you are aiming for. If it is a lowpoly-model, then subsurfacing would increase the polycount, hence not a lowpoly model anymore.
Keep it going…! =)

Try not to use “set smooth” on flat surfaces, at it will give soft edges, which doesn’t look good (go to editmode, select the faces you want smoothed, and press set smooth)

Thanks for your comments and tips!.. I will certainly work on that, and will update again when i reached another milestone…

So far my progress with blender has been good with the help of many people here… its a pity i discover blender a bit late…

No problem, at all…!
I’m nearly as new as you… (used blender for 1½ month, or so) but if you look at my WIP in my signature, you can see what i’ve acheived in a so short amount of time (it’s a car too, so it should be comparable with your project)

Oh… - and one thing i just noticed… - use the mirror modifier (under the editing-tab) to mirror the car… - then you just have to make ½ the car… =)
