noob using blender render - why is my glass so shiny?

so I am working my way through the Neil Hirsig course from Tufts U. and I just finished the Martini glass render. I followed it pretty much exactly other than adding a little speckling to the olive that isn’t even visible, but I digress. My problem is i have the world’s most reflective glass ever.

How do I fix this? I know now most people would just use cycles but i still want to know what went wrong. Let me know what i need to post to help you see what i did to this poor glass.

is this in bl or cycles ?

you have strong mirror effect on this
and it will reflect the sky all around!
so reduce mirror effect a little
but might not be possible to remove all of it !

show us nodes set up

happy bl
