Noobing out some drawings

I’m trying to teach myself to draw, mainly because I need to be able to do concept work before taking it to blender. so this is my thread to update with my very poor drawings in hopes that somebody will come and help point out the flaws that I’m not seeing myself… please! :slight_smile: I’ve only had one formal art class ever, and that was a long time ago, so whatever you have to say will probably be new to me.

Anyways, on to the first drawings, green dude one is a little older, and at the time I had no idea how to use most of the tools in PS. Second one was made today, I focused on trying to loosen up my perfectionist mind that thinks everything must be smooth gradients and sharp transitions right from the start. and I just noticed that they both look like they have a mars theme… cool! :eyebrowlift2:

Side note: my avatar is the first painting that I made with PS, and my first CG painting ever!

The green one looks like an appleman to me, you’ve got some nice shadows on it.
I’m a fan of feature symmetry, so the different size antenae’s bother me, and his head isn’t centered on his neck. Like how the antanae pops at you as well.
I like the colours in the second image, it makes it very dramatic. If you create more negative space on either side it might add to it, just a thought.
