:< :x :<
I’VE GOT SPYWARE!!! :< deep breath
okay… I’ve got some spyware on my computer, here are the"spywaring programs":
MjyZG.exe
fqxX3mo.exe
Czcy3Fz.exe
dp-k13w13.exe
and a bunch of others. When I select one of the programs in the task manager and select “end process”, another just starts!!! :<
They each use about 30MB of ram, and 97 CPU Cycles!!! :<
Anyway, I ran Spybot - Search and Destroy, but IT DIDN’T FIND THEM!!! :x
What do I do?
And WHERE DID THEY COME FROM??? :x :o
did you try:
antivirus software
ad-aware
(ther is another…)
lemme see here, where could they come from…
do you run IE or outlook?
when IE is running, get used to the activex control dialogs, and always choose NO
Ad-aware scans the registry (spybot doesn’t) and is better when it comes to detecting tracking cookies. But with SpybotS&D, you can prevent spyware from being installed by going to the Inmunize section and pressing the button with the same name, if you haven’t done so already. And it also takes much less time to scan than ad-aware (even though ad-aware scans through EVERYTHING and Spybot does not)
I would also recomment SpywareBlaster, from javacool software. Every 2 or 3 days, the spyware database is updated. (it has activex/cookie/spyware sites protection and also stuff for mozilla/firefox)
Why? Because usually if you are responsible for screwing your computer up, you know about it. My roomate was looking at porn on my computer and installed this ridiculously hard to remove virus that caused my computer to go to searchpage.cc every time I tried to dl an exe or mpg, AND Media Player wouldn’t work anymore. ARRGGHHH. I had no idea where it came from, until I looked at the bottom of searchpage.cc/some number and it said “Having problems?” and then gave instructions for removing the virus, with a note saying, “Stop looking for free porn, just pay the $5 a month.”
You probably haven’t updated Spybot lately, so do that. There’s a button inside the program that allows you to search for the latest updates. There are always new spy programs being written, and both ad-aware and spybot have a tough time keeping up with them all. That’s why you should have both.
I would recommend from using other software than spybot or adaware. Since some of those installs their own spyware! Kinda ironic, but irritating for clueless dweeb.
My anti-spyware is simply playing it smart, and using a firewall to watch connections.
If I’m just sitting there blending and all of a sudden such-or-such wants a internet connection, I block it because it has no ligitimate need, and then may even go delete the requesting program. Then when you fire up IE lets say, and IE requests a connection, you can allow it because you know you just opened it less than a second ago, and there is a ligitimate reason for having a connection. Also helps to keep a idea on posible “hijacking” software, very nice being able to block all incomming connections.
