Normal map baking Blender 2.55

Hey guys I’ve been working on a gun for a game. I’ve had problems with the normals.
I followed this tutorial (http://joeyspijkers.com/t_normalmapping.html) to achieve the result shown below and i have looked at baking normals tutorial on blender cookie, but i cant figure why the normals are coming out like this. Can anyone help me fix this? Help plzz!!

Check your face normal direction and for any double vertices. Also use set smooth shading.

Hey thanks for the reply! I just tried what you suggested, but it made no difference:(
any other ideas?

Attach your blend here or other host site.

It looks to me like your mesh has that crazy corner to corner fill going on that you get after importing collada models and the like. If that’s the case it may pay to replace those bits.

Ok heres the download link.

Guys if you could help with this it would make things so much easier for me.I cant really continue with my game until I get this issue resolved.
Ive had similar artifacts when i bake the ambient occlusion form the highpoly to the lowpoly.

Your lowpoly and highpoly models are at different locations, your both models need to be at same location in 3d space if you want to bake really work. Some models in your exploded layers (3,4) are a bit offset from their counterpart.

Here is screenshot of layer 1 and 2, white is lowpoly.

Also, remember to adjust dist and bias from bake panel.

Ahhhh! I can believe i overlooked something so simple. Thank you so so much for resolving this for me!!
