Normal map causing me some headaches

Hello! I’ve modelled this creature and baked a normal map which has extra detail from higher multires levels, and it came out great and all but when i try to put the normal map on my model it just sorta… doesn’t work???

As you can see the scales all show and shade as they should, but when I enter render view all i get is:

The node setup is rather simple:

Have I just fucked up the normal map? is render view just being silly? or something else?

(also uh, bonus question, how would i go about adding my AO map to this node setup…?) Thanks in advance!
