I have a normal map mapped to my hand model, there is a SLIGHT contrast difference where the back of the hand joins the front even though the texture does not have this variation?
Did you just bake that one side with AO?
I have not baked anything, its just a normal map! So odd, there also is no light below and the normal map is one texture you can see.
I have found it has to do with how I am applying the normal map, when I apply the map simply as a texture all is well, no seams or discolor, I think I need to refer to a normal map tutorial!
Not normal mapped but like I said, seams are not visible when applied as just a texture. WIP

Are you overlaying the top of the hand over top of the the bottom of the hand in the uv layout? I just experienced the same effect overlaying the left side of a mesh on top of the right side of the mesh…

No, I the left side of the map is the palm, the right side is the back of the hand, I am going to look at some docs and tuts again to see if I missed something.
