You can find videos on youtube about how to use it.

Edit:
Sorry, I was looking for the download link and Sanctuary said it first.

This plugin don’t works. The 3D Preview don’t works. No another plugin like this?

Thank you. I go watching now.

rally86, Sanctuary and YAFU, thank you very much.

The 3D Preview don’t works, but I think I can get to work without this function.

thank you for the attention you gave to me.

What does that mean? Does the 3D preview window not open at all when you press the 3D Preview button?
You can use mouse buttons on the preview window to navigate in the view and notice the changes.

Yeah, that. I’m able to work with the normal map, but without the visualization in real time it would be cool to see how they’re getting good or not. But okay, no problem, thanks for the help.

It’s strange, for me the preview window is working on my Gimp 2.8.6 (i use the 32bits version of both Gimp and the plugin) :

Be sure you have downloaded the latest version of the normal map plugin if you’re using the lastest version of Gimp, the older version of the plugin had the preview working only in the Gimp 2.6.x serie and crashing in 2.8.x

When I click the preview button 3d appears an error message and does not open the third window. But yes, I did the download of newer version of Gimp.

what is the error message ?
Maybe there’s an hint of what is going wrong for you

Plug-in problems: “normalmap.exe” (C: \ Program Files \ GIMP 2 \ lib \ gimp \ 2.0 \ plug-ins \ normalmap.exe) The plug-in may have compromised the internal state of GIMP to die. You may want to save your images and restart GIMP for safety.

Just to be sure you have everything installed correctly, check if in
C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\
you have normalmap.exe

And check if in
C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\bin
you have :
libgtkglext-win32-1.0-0.dll
libgdkglext-win32-1.0-0.dll
glew32.dll

(or their 64bits version in case you’re using 64bits version of GIMP and so of the plugin)
?

Are you using the “official” Gimp 2.8.6 release or someone else build (Partha, Onkel Hatti , etc…)

I downloaded the official website of Gimp, but I don’t found options like 32bits or 64bits. I will uninstall Gimp here. I’ll re-download the Gimp in their official website and reinstall.

My OS version is 64bit, so I installed the 64bit version of the plugin. Or even if my 64bit operating system, it is best to install the 32bit version of the plugin?

Thank you for your help.

Gimp 64bits is not able to deal with 32bits version of a plugin from what i have read, so if you use the 64bits version of Gimp, you must use the 64bits version of the plugin.

I personnally use the 32bits version of both Gimp and the plugin and do not have a problem.
Now if you have Gimp 64bits and the 64bits plugin , maybe there’s a problem with one of those 2, it could explain why it does not work for you but works for me.

Maybe give a try at installing the 32bits version of Gimp + the 32bits version of the plugin, but i don’t know if you can choose at the install between 32 and 64 when using the “official” installer if you have a 64bits OS.

Another possibility would be to try to download one of the custom Gimp builds from :

Partha :
http://www.partha.com/

Onkel Hatti :
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-packagers/files/Onkel_Hatti/

They offer 32 and 64 bits version of Gimp so you can choose exactly the one you download

Thank you man. I did the download from partha website and works. I am very grateful. Thanks.

Edit: I downloaded the 32bit version of Gimp by Partha site and I downloaded the 32bit version of the plugin. It’s working fine now. Thank you for your help.
