Im trying to get a normalized normal pass from cycles render.
Ive found I can use the compositor to easily do this for me, but is there a way to feed this result back into the render layer and overwirite the pass?

What exactly do you mean by this?
Umm. But Cycles already outputs a normalized normal pass. As in all vectors are unit length. Do you mean something different?
