'Normals' on both sides of a mesh?

Not sure how to word this but hopefully I am somewhat understood… In short, is it possible to, instead of flipping the normals on a mesh, to have them double sided so that a given material/texture is visible on each side? How would one go about this otherwise?

in the material tab, you just have to deselect “backface culling”
