I’m trying to make a very basic walkcycle, but my root bone, the spine of my armature, is not showing up on the dopesheet. When I try to animate the torso bobbing with the walkcycle it, it behaves simply as if it has been moved and does not animate. I thought I could rectify this by looking at its motion directly in the dopesheet – no luck! Has anyoen had a similar issue before?
Post your file otherwise it’s hard to tell what your problem is - are you able to make keyframes for that bone? That would be visible in the some properties changing color and a line appearing in the timeline window, and are you sure it’s part of the same armature…
on the dopesheet – there is an icon that looks like a ghost and next to it an arrow – these limit the dopesheet to showing the currently selected bones or showing all bones. Play with them and see if it helps
Daren, I tried the ghost button – no luck with that, unfortunately. Dru, I’m having some trouble uploading the file – sorry, noob problems. I’m pretty sure it’s part of the same armature, but you’re right, it’s not changing color as it should be. You can see my problem in this screenshot, however:
Ok, apologies guys – I just stumbled across a really simple solution. Essentially, I had just never made and confirmed a pose to that bone – it wasn’t showing up on the dopesheet because there was no pose information for it to animate. I posed it, posed again, and the bone showed up on the dopesheet automatically.
