Not enough Memory - GPU/CPU compare?

Hello Blenderartist Community!
I´m following a tutorial online about the new feature, microdisplacement.
And, yeah, saw that it uses up more than 2300MB of memory while rendering.

I own a GTX 750, which should have 1024MB memory, other people say 2048MB (don´t talka about the ti version!), but that´s not enough.
Okay, the old way to render with CPU. More memory, waaaaay slower. Got AMD FX6300 with six cores, means 6x3,5 GHz.
Must say, I´m not that good with VRAM, RAM, GHz and so on.
How far could I push my rendering with this CPU (in MB [I guess] VRAM)?

Thanks for responding

VRAM, as in Video RAM, is the amount of memory your graphics card is equipped with. This is only used for GPU rendering.

CPU rendering doesn’t use that at all, as it will use your system memory instead. Since you did not tell us how much RAM you have in your machine, there’s no way of telling how far you can push rendering on the CPU…

Whoops…
So, my GB RAM is the maximum memory I can use for rendering?
I´ve got 8 GB RAM, 7,9 for use (rest is System reserved)

(How to get my specs under my comments like you?!)

@NGCHunter - if you want to add things under the comments you post, go to your settings (Settings button at the top of the page) and then click the edit signature button from the selection. You can then add text and/or links that will be seen under every comment you post

You can maybe try to change the subdivision rate Max subdivision to 8 instead off 12 then it use less memory for example ( see render settings - geometry )
