Please use this post to tell me exactly what you guys want to do with the weekend challenge.
elYsiun could host the challenge in the future, (talking 2 ~ 3 months here). When the new contest system is ready. (perhaps I can find someone willing to help me with this so we can do it sooner).
In the meantime I would like for a moderator or a team (maximum 2) of moderators to take over.

What do you mean by moderators? What will they moderate?
I would be willing to be one of the moderators.

Um… the Weekend Challenge, of course. Since it’s held on this forum, the moderator(s) of the Weekend Challenge would have to be board moderator(s) for this forum. As it’s set, only the moderator of this forum can create/close posts. The mod of the WC would have to open the new challenge posts at the appropriate time. Then at the end of the challenge, they’d have to close the entry post, and write a voting post showing all the contestants. At the end of voting, they’d have to close that post, contact the winner and ask for their challenge topic. Then they’d have to open the next, and place the winner in the hall of fame (and I think host it, as well). Of course execution of the rules, and arbitrating disputes would be involved too. Lot more to it I’m sure, but that’s what’s visible from the outside, that I know of.

I rather like the idea of the WC being slightly open/loose. meaning… that I rather like the idea of people just posting their stuff, without an actual restricion of open or pure entries. I mean… if people don’t like open entries then just don’t vote for them. It’s not about voting/winning anyway. It’s about trying out something new and the joy of seeing other folk’s interpretations.
In my personal view… nothing really needs changing. Of course a sepparate contest section on the site would be nice
by moderating initially I mean moderating the forum. But this also means arranging the weekend challenge every week etc.
by little tasks, I mean, checking if the entries comply to the rules, putting the entries in an online archive, that sort of thing. On the other sire, I’d post the entry and voting thread, and edit the winners thread.

I agree with macouno. The WEC is well like it is. Above all nothing should hold people’s creativity, so lesser the rules are… (except from timing and formatting)
For longer contest time limit (month…), the general contest forum suits very well…
TEETH: speaking of little tasks, you proposed (in the French Blender users forum) to make for us an ongoing WEC themes&rules translation. That’s a litlle task I have time for (in fact I was about to answer to Bill when you posted )
The WC should be the same as before imo. I liked it that way.

9: I didn’t even start to translate the rules, since I thought the challenges were over… If you want to do it, I think a lot of people would be very thankful.

I think the wc should be as before but with one thing: There will be 3 winners…Each of these winner will send their idea for the next wc to a moderator and this moderator will combine the three idea…Here an example: 1-Space
2-Car
3-War
The result will be: A space car with weapon on it! or something like this…What do you think of this idea?
Think carefully before you volunteer. This is probably a lot of work.
