Not so keen on the new numerical input meathod

The numerical input method has changed in the newest version of Blender…

Say you wanted to scale somethng in half along the z axis, where as you could press

S . 5 Z

you now have to press

S Z . 5

This may not sound like much of an issue, but quite often I get confused about which is my X and Y - or I might press

R 90 X

realise it rotated the wrong way and press

- 

Now I’d have to delete and press

-90

Is there any way to change this back?
