November fun [Cycles]

If Polish November starts with sadeness it ends with fun as on the eve of St. Andrew’s Day Poland has the fortunetelling night called Andrzejki. Andrzej is Polish for Andrew and in particular young women are interested in finding out who, if anyone, they are going to marry. The most popular way thereof is to pour, through the eye of a key, hot wax onto cold water and examine the shape of the solid. Another one, unisex and easy way, is to ask all people in a room to take off one shoe, and put the shoes in a line. When done, you take the last shoe and put it in front. You repeat it till the line reaches the open door and observe, whose shoe is the first one outside as this person is supposed to get married first.
