Hi, heres an example of using modifiers to produce randomly occurring lines, that happen most at sharp areas of the model
The modifier stack Im using is
- displace (cloud texture, animated to modulate the surface a little)
- edge split (to seperate sharp edges)
- smooth (new modifier, added to CVS today, it contracts the faces making gaps inbetween that can be made to look like lines)
- Subsurf smooth the lines a bit.
Then I overlay with another model and add some zoffset so the one with the modifiers renders on top.
no post processing… results on this model arnt as nice as Id like, but you can still see what Im getting at.
