NURBS and Bones

Hello all! I am trying to figure some stuff out in Blender, and created a simple NURBS character to try animating. Then I added some bones and got them all set up, but when I selected NURBS guy and then held shift and selected the bones, and pressed control - p, it only parents them to each other and doesn’t give me the menu that has "create from closest bones and all that. What did I do wrong?

You need to convert the NURBS object into a mesh object (in Object Mode select the NURBS object and Alt-C) before you parent it to the armature . Blender’s armature system does not support animations with NURBS surfaces … Things like vertex groups only apply to meshes not NURBS surfaces …

Ahhhhhh… Yeah, too bad… NURBS would be really cool to use a skeleton with.
