Oberon [tweaked render 13.3.2006]

I tweaked the pic a bit. The armor has a shinier material and hair has a tad thinner strands.

----old—
I declare this one finished.

This particualr face is called Oberon, the fairie king.
So, I was reading the Sandman comic book on couple of weeks ago, and came upon a short story titled “A Midsummer nights dream”, where Shakespeare and co. are acting their play to the exact creatures of which the particular play tells about.

So that’s where I got it from. If you have something to comment go
ahead.

very well done, specially the eyes, but hair looks more like straw . may be if you zoomed out to show more of the character, it would have been suitable.

I like also the background.

Anyway this is a lovely pic, and a good work.

It’s a nice pic, but his jacket looks very plastic.

That actually is pretty much everything I modelled, his armour just continues a bit lower, but not much.

And for a selfnote, it seems I forgot to do reflections on the armour… blasted. And the material could do more tweaking.

I like it! The silver skin reminds me of elve skin, and the horns look great!
Though the reflecting jacket is a bit weird…

The jacket and skin both look plasticky. Otherwise it looks good. Nice modelling.

Good.

The hair could use some tweaking in the strand’s option make them less big. with tangent shading. and a gradiant alpha so the end look almost transparent (giving impression of very thin hair).

Cool character. I’m really curious as to how you setup the hair. Did you just set it up so that it would look good from camera, or were you able to make it look good from all angles? Did you use multiple layers and curve guides? Thanks, and keep up the good work.

DwarvenFury

Thanks from the comments.

DwarvenFury: It looks best from that camera angle. why bother to do full hairdo, if you are use only one view, that’s what I thought.

Just like in my previous hair experiment I used only one particle emitting mesh, which is the dublicated shape of his skull. Then I just place multiple guides to make the hair go where I want.

Gabio: Yes, I try to lower the rendering times by using a bit more thicker strands, so that I could get by using little less partices. Sadly enough it shows. I’ll see if I manage to whip out another version whit tweaked hair.
