i’m trying to export my mesh as an obj to Zbrush. It didnt work and when i reimported the obj from blender back into blender to check the file, i noticed that no mesh shows up, only an object origin. Still in the outliner, the object gets listed and the info tab shows no errors. I assume there must be something wrong with the mesh itself, which is why i posted this issue under modeling.
Here you have the .blend file. The object is a fairly simple modified cylinder.
Glad for any help, Ello
EDIT: Kind of solved it. A friend helped me out. I generated a primitive cube, and joined ittogether with my mesh (Ctrl + J) Then i deleted the cube and exported again and this time it worked. I don’t know yet, why this is so, but it’s a convenient work arround. I could erase this post, but i decided to leave it to all those who look for a solution for this problem.
For me several blender versions did export obj file not containing any vertex information at all.
ply export was fine though.
If blend file was re-saved with object’s visibility enabled there were no problems to export correct obj file.
Edit: OS Linux, 64bit; visibility was enabled in original file before export.
Got the same problem. Am trying to bake hair planes in xnormal but getting endless errors so decided to check the exported meshes. Export wavefront obj and then reimport. Nada. Cant see a thing. The model is in the correct layer and present in the outliner. Pressing Del zooms into the origin but nothing visible and nothing to scale up. Export selected active. Tied it with a simple model and complex one. Nothing. Attached a cube, deleted it, export reimported still nothing. Any ideas welcome.
