Object getting painted visible with dynamic paint


Can I rig an object as a canvas that gets revealed as the brush object intersects with it?

I have a shader that I want the object to end up with.

You can set the paint color of the brush as white, bake the dynamic paint as an image sequence and use it as the mix factor of your desired shader with a transparent shader.

Alternatively, you can do this on the geometry level by baking the simulation as a weight paint instead of an image sequence, giving the object a mask modifier, and using the painted group as the vertex group of the modifier. This would require a pretty dense geometry to look good though.
