Object Selection Issues

Hi guys,

first post here. Just getting into blender with some tutorials and have reached a point where I have to select multiple shapes I’ve created in a certain order. All along the way, I was able to select shapes individually and manipulate them. Now I discovered that I can only select the entire group of objects all together. It does not allow me to make individual selections anymore unless I’m in edit mode. What am I doing wrong?

If you add a new object while in Object Mode it will be a separate object
If you add a new object while in Edit Mode it will be part of the current selected object.

Sounds like you did the latter.

You can separate them by selecting all vertices and P / separate by loose parts
