It is with great sadness that I must report we lost a great community member today. Octavio Mendez, a long-time cornerstone of the Mexican Blender and open source community, has passed away after fighting the Corona virus.

so sad when young people die from Covid-19
Not wanting to be that person, but any death from the corona virus is a sad one 
We all want to have our loved ones to stay safe, no matter how old they are.
But this is sad news, and another example of the fact that this virus is affecting us all, no matter where we are, who we are or how old we are…

Damn this sucks. I didn’t know the man, but I feel affected, as I would be if it were anyone from this forum. My thoughts are with his family.

RobWu you are absolutely right. But what I mented was that if you are old like 80-90 you have lived a long life versus a young one that have the life in front of him, proably also a father of children. But yes any dead from any sickness are sad.
Did not know him, but feel really sad to hear it, not nice when anyone passes. 
A lot of people has passed away over the last couple weeks, very unfortunate to see how such numbers quickly just fade into statistics. It really takes a close hit for it to sting.
Best wishes to his closest friends and family, hope we all make it through this rough time.
May his work and contribution to the community live on forever.
