octopus

i like to share what i did for fun during the holidays… zbrush + blender and cycles

Nice. It looks like something you would buy in one of those surf shops in any number of beach towns.

lol — yes you are right, its not a realistic octopus (even has only 7 arms)… thanks for commenting.

Almost thought it was real.
Very scary, but very cool!

7 armed octopi are not that uncommon, they often get their arms bit off by moray eels, but they grow back eventually.

Really good model!
But the texture in the background, somehow spongy / blurred! And the ground beneath the octopus, looks a little weird from (the peaks are rather unrealistic (I think!))
But still I like the picture! Two thumbs up!

hi thank you  about the background, yes i should have stick with the first version, you are right about the points, it was an experiment though, i kept it as i liked the colorscheme … ah, yes then my octopus was a brave one too, that lost an arm, did not know that. thank you all for commenting, very appreciated by me.

hey nice work man, how’d you get the wet looking areas done? looks good

thanks knives… that is simply a glossy shader mixed with diffuse, where the factor of the mixshader node has input a map, that creates glossy only where i want.

It looks like a glazed clay model of an octopus, very good sculpting.
