odd rendering problem with materials

I downloaded a worn metal material and a chrome material for my gun that i’m making.

I assigned it to the areas of the gun that I need (The barrel and the main casing of the gun)

I’ve turned on indirect lighting and raytracing (Its a requirement for both materials to work properly), the problem is that when I render, the chrome is just a dull grey, like the default colour and the worn metal looks more like a sand blasted metal, the upload image feature isn’t working, so I’ll try to post a image tommorow.

don’t use raytrace yet try with approximate!

would the materials still work properly with approximate?

yes depends on the algo you select !
