Oidn 3.0

I think this has gone under the radar. OIDN 3.0 was actually announced half a year ago. The section about it starts at 16:00.

Highlights of OIDN 3.0
-Higher quality
-Temporal denoising

It was supposed to be released by the end of 2025, but apparently that didn’t happen. Hopefully we will get it soon.

Is there another version of this “Intel Open Image Denoise 2 and Beyond: AI-Accelerated Ray Tracing for Everyone” video available?

A talk about a next gen denoiser on a YT channel calling itself “High-Performance Graphics” and the video quality is 360p max. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

It is funny I know. But unfortunately, it seems this is the official channel of the event. The event is literally called High Performance Graphics.

 Yes, I noticed it after reading the only 2 comments on YT. Both ask for a proper quality version of the video.

But in the end, the talk is very interesting, I hope OIDN 3.0 will become reality this year. The current version seems to be 2.4 according to Github.

Yeah, and the other videos in that event are actually pretty important too. Like “No More Shading Languages: Compiling C++ to Vulkan SPIR-V”. These are not obsolete research topics. These are huge changes that are being considered by the industry.

Well we didnt wait for 3.0, we implemented temporal OIDN accumulation directly into viewport EEVEE with real GI

We are not part of the Blender Foundation (BF). So organisationally, and financially, that is a big split of decision chaining that is by definition not feasible for us. Its not up to us if the code is implemtented (the code is free) its up to the BF. Even if BF would implement it, we would still continue to internally have a separate distribution that would be ahead and cloud integrated.

Organisationally, and because Nuru is tied to our cloud vision, we cant wait/adopt a process where we would need to wait for BF main branch approval. This is the same case with Blender and Octane Render or Blender and Renderman, we are in a similar situation.

E-Cycles is a case where the product was not driving a secondary business (E-Cycles was not free), and once that business model failed, the product failed. We are offering it for free.
