I’ve been plauged with difficulties in trying to finbd this answer on my own… but how to box select everything including depth???
please tell me because i used to do it all the time until blender changed to a newer version.

Easy, turn off shaded view (Z) and you should be able to select all vertices.
You can also turn off depth-buffered selection with the little cube-button to the right of those to choose the select-mode
