Im basicaly done with this guy. its been nothing but a pain trying to get fur on this tiger along with blender crashing on me every 10 to 15 minutes cause it cant handle so much (i ablame windows for the most). its basically holding me up, so im just gonna consider this done and move on. so here it is folks. i know that it doesnt look that good, specialy around the cheeck area. poor kitty looks kind of sick, its loosing its fur. i even tried to keep seperate parts in layers to reduce unstability, but t dint help much. also the comb option didnt work very well(or i didnt understand it very well), cause it only combed it in one direction. oh well, here it is:
so please, besides needing more fur and the bottom right portion looking too bright…what do you guys think?
i saw your model in your other post and it is very good. I think you need work on the fur. (I know I am not telling you anything knew). Post the picture here:
And see if either ezual or landis can help you out.
Cool! Very artistic, you don’t need to get more realistic with this, because than it would be a normal tiger, while now it is your own tiger:)
One little crit: the nose. It doesn’t blend in, looks like if it was glued on it’s face:)
Nice one, indeed. I like the model, can you post a render without fure and with wireframe, so I can see the model better.
I am modeling a lion head (https://blenderartists.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21662), but the furring seems to be harder than I thought. Well I will see how it turnes out.
I like the model a lot, since it is not an usual render
The model is great, but sorry to say, the fur looks really bad. If that’s all what beast can do I really wonder what’s all the fuss about it about.
ok here are my C&C’s
the nose. It doesn’t blend in, looks like if it was glued on it’s face
- some of the teeth look like they are hanging in mid air, not connecting to anything
- the left eye (looking at the image), the iris is cut in the middle, look closely and you’ll see what i’m talking about
- the fur of course
- better texture inside the mouth
the model itself if quite good, good work on the eyes (except for the left one), the mouth looks good too (except some of the teeth)
overall this is a good image, a bit more work and it will be great. has a lot of potential.
thanks for your C&Cs guys. Ill for sur eput more work into it next time. but i just basically wanted to work with BEAST, and it kick my ass for sure. so many objects in one file sure did slow blender down, it took almost two minutes to open the file, about 30 seconds to delete something…and i really dont wanna get into rendering. i basically just walked off and did chores or whatched movies, or started the render before i left for work. I really thank you for your crits, i will defently put more effort into detail next time. one thing you guys forgot to mention about the teeth, that i forgot to put in. the bottom middle row of teeth are missing, i surprised no one called that.
the left eye (looking at the image), the iris is cut in the middle, look closely and you’ll see what i’m talking about
…oh yeah, uh well, i forgot to set the render to a directory. and im not sure if their is a defauklt directory that the image would go to, but i couldnt find it. so i just did a printsreen and put it together in PSP7. good point though, i thought i would get away with that.

good job with the lion so far. your right BEAST is kind of a pain to work with. but i still consider it, cause its just one of those neseary features, like for grass, but im sure better versions will come aling in the future.

without the stripes:
just the stripes:
and something i did after playing around for a while
-now remember, copy/paste
Beast works with alphamapped cards. When they point straight at the camera you can’t see them. This is the down side to the card system. When creating an animal such as this it is crucial that the hair be flat against the body, and not standing up. There are still many things that have to be implemented to get beast to be more like a hair-o-matic. Until then good results can be achieved by taking some time with it. Thanks for giving beast a go though. What size is your .blend file? Maybe you can mail it to me and I can give it a try.
Well I am sitting here for a few minutes, waiting for this huge render to load, and I got impatient, so,…the top half looks good,…I would recommend using a denser card perhaps, and as ezual suggested, change the attitude of them so they are lying against the body.
sure ill email it too you. I would post it up I can only upload up to 900k files and its a 1 meg. Just my luck, so just email me at [email protected] and ill send it to you.
ok never mind, here it is in .RAR format:
-ok so if you noticed in shader mode the colors on the tiger to help out what color will be what on the tiger. also youl notice ive seperated the tripes and the different color fur, as well as the size(i.e. the nose fur is in smal size as in the bottom of the neck ould be a larger size).
