Old Barn

I’ve been working on this for two days. Right now I want to focus on modeling, and I’ll start texturing etc. next week.
It’s supposed to be an old inn, I guess. Or a sophisticated barn.
So far, what do you think of the modeling?

its looking really good the only thing i have to crit on is the long post holding up the top of the stairs looks like its slanted. im not sure if it was supposed to be like that

Looks great so far, I like the attention to detail you put in every plank of wood on the barn

By the way, I forgot to mention that I want it to look really ramshackle and old.

ledluver23: Yes, it’s supposed to be slanted.
Grenade: Thanks :]

Just a little update, with some junk around the sides of the ‘barn’. As always, lemme know what you think.

EDIT: I just realized the bag is as tall as the door, so I’ll be fixing that.

Great work so far. Keep it up.

If you continue adding the accesories and “junk” around the structure, you should soon have a very convincing old and ramshackle looking barn.

About the size of the bag, I would agree. The size you have at the moment is not impossible, but only if they are industrial size bags and not normal sized sacks than can be carried by one person.

if buildings were built like that, wed be living in caves. beams dont float and theres no magical infill that fills all the holes. believable construction would help the realism.
buildings are essentially frames of something (in this case, timber) sheathed in something else (usually plywood, but for old barns and buildings such as yours, board and batten). just remember that gravity tends to work 24/7 and loads must be supported and distributed. its pretty simple, and i think itll help you create buildings and figure out how stuff works alot easier.

Hey looking good there Blenditall ;)…
Your really doing a great job with the side panneling, however on the front of the house, the pannels seem too far apart…
The roof looks good too, with the windows coming out of the top (forgot their names)…
Keep up the good work :D!

Samir: Yeah, I’m kind of brainstorming about what other accessories would look good. And I’ve fixed the bag.

StompinTom:
I know it’s not perfect, but I just found out today what the style i’m going for is called (tudor)

Note the ‘magic filler’:stuck_out_tongue: (plaster)

otto riis: Thanks:). You’re right about the front panels actually, I think if I made them narrower and closer together it would help with the sense of scale too:yes: .
And those ‘windows coming out of the top’ are dormers;). I’m pretty happy with them too.

Update comin’ up soon.

Well, I’m not done modeling but here’s a little lighting test.

I guess I’ll just keep updating.

Considering this has no textures and the modeling isn’t yet detailed, I think it’s looking pretty good.

i agree this is looking really good. the lighting is really good.

The lighting is looking good, however the image looks a little washed out, did you do that intentionally ?

ledluver23: Thank you:)
otto riis: Yeck yes I did that intentionally! I wanted that hazy/dusty look, but I could still increase contrast.
In fact, I can do anything I feel like. Ahh, the beauty of Blender.

Here’s some textures on the barn. I have yet to do the windows/doors/accessories and roof textures.
In grayscale, because I like it.

And in colour.

What do you think?

I am still a noob to blender myself but that is good from my opinion. The one thing I did notice is that the windows don’t look much like glass though.

I haven’t done those materials yet.
Thanks though.
