http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?threadid=532817&utm_medium=plugblock&utm_source=cgtalk [NUDITY WARNING - Potentially not safe for work/children]

I don’t care that there are screens of the 3d scene, I don’t care that there are wire images, i don’t care there are breakdowns of the picture’s separate elements and I don’t care this is on the front page of the cgtalk forum.

Surely this is not CG, made in 2 weeks, by one person.

Damn, but he’s good.

oh, hes good all-right… and he uses a lot of different tools in combination, to get the best out of them…

With all the free porn on the internet, and he still has to make his own?

That dude definitely needs a girlfriend :stuck_out_tongue:

nice work tho  wish I was that good

It would be a good idea to tag this as Mature Content in the title to avoid any mishaps with those who are younger and have parents that like to glance at the screen to see what their kids are looking at. Thanks.

EDIT: Oops, forgot to comment on the pic. It’s the most realistic render that I’ve ever seen, and I’m still skeptical. Look at the top of her hair; that green line is chromatic aberration. Noise has been added. A camera flash is faked perfectly. Seriously, I want to know how much time this guy has on his hands.

I think it was…if you read his comments.

same should apply when you walk into a shopping mall, or the undergarment section of your clothing shop…oh I won’t start on those nasty plastic human looking doll thingy’s in most shop windows. quick lock up your children there’s undies on the internet:p

Walking by an underwear store, something that everyone needs and does not exploit anyone, is very different than a picture of a woman with her legs spread out in lingerie, don’t you agree?

sorry, just poking a bit of fun, mind you if you scroll down the thread there is much merit to what you say because there are nude shots too, so yes there should be a warning.
People should not be scared or ashamed of nudity as it is a part of humanity but pornography should be warned of. I suppose the image is certainly borderline.

Superb!!..

(yet, if someone who will never be that good at modeling/texturing/lighting/etc can be spared to say something… the chair kinda screws up the effect, and the legs look a bit superimposed to the floor and the rest of the body. I did think it was an actual picture digitally modified, though.)

{sarcasm}
Ummm, that was not a woman, it was just a model.
In my opinion, polygon’s dont have sex organs or a sexuality, they cannot engage in sex , nor can they commit sex crimes.

I agree there should be a warning, but more for people at work, that might have a zealot for a co-worker or a boss.
If kids want to see naked people, and teach themselves about sex because their parents are too self-sexualy-repressed, their first stop is not going to be a 3d art BBS, it will be google with some naughty phrase

Ignorant children are more repulsive than naked people to me.

{/sarcasm}

heh, all jokes aside, it sort of shocked me too… but in a pleasant way :p, I agree it should have a small hit of a warning at least.

OK, first of all, this is indeed a CG generated image. He did not make this in 2 weeks, it was well over a year, if you check the WIP thread that is also posted there, which I actually followed myself for some time.

There may be some people who disagree with this image regarding the issues at hand, but if CG Talk has not banned it/shut the thread down, then we will not either.

This is purely CG art and one of the best character renderings I have ever seen.

Have your beliefs, but please, keep them to yourselves and do not start a flame war about this topic. It is art, nothing more.

Excellent modelling, I must say. Now, suppose he can animate her… :stuck_out_tongue:

The moderators at CGTalk suck. This shows again they work with double standards.

I absolutely don’t mind this piece, but it’s very very sad they accept these kind of works and ban my Bikkie-Dikkiecause in their eyes it’s not tasteful nude and “this is a site that is visited by people of all ages and this is why we have these guidelines in place”.

Moderators at CGTalk are sad.

bikkie dikkie scares me…ALOT
and the fact that hes touchin himself might make them not want it on there site

but girls posing in lingerie is perfectly fine
u no wat u should do… blur out the nudety part or put a black bar over it that says CENSORED and then try posting it on CGTalk

This girl wants something …

Regardless of the sarcasm, I’m going to reply to this seriously anyway. When it comes to this level of realism, you’ll be hard pressed to convince your boss that this is actually a 3d render and that you’re not looking at it for pleasure. And yes, it is a woman. When you create a thread in the finished projects, you don’t call it “a model”. You call it exactly what it is: A man, a woman, digital camera etc. (just some simple examples).

I could really care less about nudity. It doesn’t shock me, make me sick, or anything else like that, but I can’t say the same for many other people, especially when the image is on the internet.

sorry, just poking a bit of fun, mind you if you scroll down the thread there is much merit to what you say because there are nude shots too, so yes there should be a warning.

Thanks for understanding  and I’m sorry I took you too seriously.

i hear ya, nothing pisses me off more than clicking on a thread and im stuck with me. a picture of a naked dude, and me explaining to my mom that its a pop-up

Moderators at CGTalk are sad.
Got that right. They regularly violate their own rules and show favoritism.

Being human, I guess that’s normal, but CGTalk asks for money to become a member. You’d think they would show a little more professionalism.

I’m kinda surprised they deleted your post though. Are they Puritan?

He has to hold it up, he’d fall over otherwise.

I think that a giant erect penis is more offensive than a girl in her underwear though. We can see girls in underwear on UK TV in the daytime but we can’t see an erect penis at any time ever (not that I’d like to btw).

Someone in the thread mentioned that the work was done on and off over 5 years, I guess that maybe refers to the guy’s career development but it seems like the results he achieves are good in a lot of other work he has done so he definitely has put in the time to pull of this kind of quality. If he has used some projection technique, his work is good even if just in modelling terms.

I actually thought the room was a photo and he’d just superimposed the girl and that would account for it looking superimposed but there’s a room wireframe in there too.

I’d still say it was pretty drab though, the reason he gives is a good one but it’s one of those scenarios where realism != art. Nonetheless, with those techniques, he has the ability to make some even more stunning artwork.

by hes words, no projection techniques were involved… but who know…
