Olympia -- yet another cartoon girl

The first draft of my latest WIP;

Made the picture so I can see the whole model at once to see where I need to work on the topology and figured I’d share.

there is a different color line on her back, is that her bra strap, or just a mess up in the color?

That’s part of her shirt, there’s a double loop there.

Been working on the ear and feet which both need a bunch more work.

2 things stand out a little, she has cankles, - bottom half of the lower leg looks to column and has no angle bone protrusions, and the could do with archs and and a more curved shape… otherwise, cool wip

Maybe…

I always intend to but usually just end up building and rebuilding the rig and never finish. One of the reasons for this model is to do a full on face rig with stuff I learned along the way which would be really hard on my other models so big mouth and eyes.

Who knows, maybe I’ll finish it before the next female 11second club part comes around.

Oh, yeah, them feet are a train wreck…they need a complete re-topo.

Never done an actual foot before so just kind of testing the waters, getting the proportions down, etc, etc. Still need to decide if there will be five toes (and fingers) or go the cartoon ‘four finger’ route.

First test render to see how things are coming along outside of the viewport…

Fixed a couple things and re-upped the picture. Really need to make a python script to stitch these photos together even though it only takes a couple minutes in the gimp.

Finished up the re-topo work on the back and roughed in the arm/hand. Mainly just checking proportions now before I get in there and get busy with the hand.

Pretty happy with the overall shape of things, well, other than the hand that is. Still need to do some tweaking here and there, finish the eyelids, inside of the mouth, hair, etc but it’s pretty close to being ready to rig.

Cute! The mouth and nose are well done. I think I’d work a bit more on the eyes - not just the eyelids, but the shape. The lid/eyebrow combo is just too high, IMO. Also, the shape of face is too round for my taste - a bit of articulation to the cheeks by bringing in the mesh near the lips, and a bit of tweaking the eyebrow downward would improve the face. And I think I see a small bump on the outside/top portion of the forhead you might want to smooth. Keep workin’ and get her animated!

Did a quick hair test to see how it would look, didn’t even save it so it won’t look anything like this.

Also did one without the hair.

Been working on the face a bunch, moved around the eyes and some other stuff.

Got the eye texture from BBB and the new colors from Durian…hopefully some of their cool will wear off that way…

i think the iris should be much larger, there shouldn’t be whit visible all around… makes her look crazed. i think the eyelids could cover the eyes a little more than they currently do… the feet are better, but they have a lump about 40% of the way forward, that should be about 60%… its like she broke her feet and it healed wrong. not sure about the 3 fingers thing, and they need some attention for the spacing between the digits is too wide. the pelvis looks a little to far backwards, it needs a little moving forward to look like its holding her body up straight. the hair is looking like good progress…

Lots of tweekage all around, fixed some stuff from dvamdamme’s comment and left some how it was…

The eyes will look a lot different once I get some eyelashes on there and replace the temporary eyeballs methinks.

The only major things to do is model the inside of the mouth, teeth, eyebrows, and hair

Finally got around to working on the hand.


Watched this tutorial last night and got all motivated…

About ready to apply the mirror modifier and rig this little chica.

Added a little (too much) AO and did a big render so I can work on some of the final tweaking.

Somehow I’ve manager to get to 200 bones and I’m not nearly done yet…

Been (slowly) working on the face;

Yet another hair test to see the eyelashes and eyebrows in context.

Got her as rigged as I can without hitting the python and shape keys.
