Hey folks,
This thread was created, instead of using my old one, because I’ve made a lot of changes to my guy, now called Omadii (Omad II). Also, the old thread was getting hard to load with all the large images. So… that was my apology.
Okay, I’ve changed a few things on my guy in attempts to make him appear less cartoony. Here are the reference’s and my WIP (currently at 163 faces un-subsurfaced):
Reference’s:

So, there you go. I’d love to hear some comments… oh, and does anyone prefer the old Omad better?
Okay, from what I’m hearing, no one really likes the new Omadii…
So what do you guy’s think about me making this guy the ‘warrior’ or ‘hunter’ of the tribe, or something similar to that? If so, I’ll remake my old one as well, but keep it the same to his old shape.
Here’s an update on the Omadii:
Anyone got any problems with it’s design or anatomy? Some input would be great.
Since I havent gotten much feedback on Omadii, I decided to move on to his environment, to see if that raises some people interests.
So far I’ve modelled and rigged one of the trees for his area (which will sort of resemble a swamp). The long branches that are going into the water are going to be rigged so they float on the surface instead of going straight down.
Here’s what I’ve done:
Please, any feedback will be great!

P.S. Water and tree tectures are just place holders.
Thanks for the replies guys
Aidan: Yeah, I just chose a random colour for a change…
Mandoragon: Thanks for the backup
x-32 jsf: Yeah… as Aidan said… that’s the tree. lol
Small update:
Do you guys like the sinking branches or floating braches idea better? I need some input for this cause I’m not sure myself.
Thanks for all your replies guys, I guess I’ll be keeping the floating roots. Of course I gotta fix up the look of them a bit first.
The going’s been slow with Omadii lately, he’s the first creature I’ve ever modelled, and I’m having a lot of trouble with the arms at the moment. The shoulders, more specifically…
To model better geometry (i.e. getting rid of those sausages arms) you could bring edge loops closer together where you want sharper details like folds and stuff.
Hey guys,
It’s been tough, but Ive finally managed to get a (sort of) decent looking arm. Critique would be greatly appreciated cause I don’t really know how I’m meant to go about this part and as you can see below there are a few problems left:
