I guess on Windows, people use After Effects. But what about Linux and you don’t want to use buy an expensive piece of software?
Are you all using KDEnlive?

Blackmagic Fusion or Resolve. I own a dongle for them, but the free version of Resolve should be fine for most tasks.
Maybe… blender… ??
There is nothing as good as AE in the opensource world for that, all the options comes with their share of pro and cons…
For instance, blender can work especially if you have few titles but want to make them super catchy with cool animation, particles effects or whatever blender got in it’s toolbag.
But say you have a lot of them to produce in a fast and simple fashion, then blender might become to complex and slow for the task.
I use Kdenlive from time to time, it’s getting better and better but for my need VSE is enough, but for typography it might be too simple for you case.
Resolve is indeed very worth looking into…
I recall a software that would allow parametric 2d animation that was in development a few years ago but can’t recall what it is…
Other than that, Olive is very promising too but I don’t know how useable it is , and what it provides for typography…
Without a doubt Davinci Resolve. Comes pre-installed with loads of (animated) 2d text overlays. And an advanced effects library and feature set.
The free version is more than enough for most.
