On Ubuntu 10.04, where should I extract the contents of the Blender .tar.bz2 to?

I just downloaded blender-2.62-r44606-linux-glibc27-x86_64.tar.bz2 to my Desktop. Where should I extract it to?

NOTE: I would like to add the executable to my main menu.
